Peggy Roberts

Peggy L. Umbrell Roberts, age 69, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at her home. Born May 27, 1946 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Iva Miller Umbrell.
Peggy was a 1964 graduate of CASHS. She started her career at Hennessy Products, in Chambersburg, working her way up to Administrative Sales Manager/Traffic Manager. She left Hennessy’s after 16 years of service to start her career as a Transportation Sale Manager with Ward Trucking. She also worked for Overnite Transportation, Cole’s Express and started her employment with Hoffman Transport in September 1990, where she worked until her death. Peggy won many sales awards throughout her career; she loved her profession and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed playing golf with her customers and getting to know their families. Peggy always excelled in her position. Her favorite past time was going to the Outer Banks, NC, with her husband, Garry and their dogs. She loved her animals and treated them like family. She will be sadly missed by her fellow workers, friends, and family, along with her four legged buddies.
Surviving is her husband of 25 years, Garry W. Roberts, whom she married July 21, 1990; a son, David K. Landis (wife Karen) of Fredericksburg, VA; a grandson, David L. Landis of Bowling Green, OH; a step – son, Daniel J. Roberts of Pittsburgh, PA; two step grandchildren, Lindsey and Sean of Ypsilanti, MI; a step great – grandson, Aiden of Ypsilanti, MI; a brother, James C. Umbrell (wife Diane) of Chambersburg, PA; a sister, Joanne Small of Mechanicsburg, PA; a niece, Sheri Abel (husband Dan) of Mechanicsburg, PA, who has always been like a daughter. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins and her favorite little girls, Sara Sue and Daisy May. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother – in – law, Robert Small and a nephew, Gregory Small.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, at 1 PM at New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Lawton Jacobs will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2015, from 7 – 9 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Better Days Animal League, P.O. Box 57, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
