Peter P. “Pete” Fiume, 78, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born Sept 14, 1943 in Pittston, PA he was the son of the late Peter and Carmel (Bonita) Fiume.
He attended Pittston Township Public Schools and was a graduate of Pittston High School with the Class of 1960. Pete then went on to obtain his bachelor degree in accounting from Kings College, Wilks-Barre, PA. He was employed as an accountant for the federal government with 34 years of service. Throughout his career he worked at US Army Audit Agency, Philadelphia; US Army Logistics System Support Agency in Picatinny, New Jersey and Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He was also employed in different agencies at Letterkenny including Depot Systems Command and Computer Science Corporation. He ended his career retiring as a computer systems analyst supervisor GS 15 from Letterkenny Army Depot in 2010. He obtained many awards throughout his career including the Commanders Award for Civilian Service one of the most prestigious awards earned by a civilian employee.
Pete was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He coached Chambersburg Little League baseball and Senior Division baseball as well as a coach for Coldbrook Elementary School Basketball teams that were held at the Chambersburg Recreation Center. He enjoyed watching sports and horse races, coin collecting, going to the casino, playing black jack and poker, gardening, working outside and spending time on the porch with his neighbors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Maureen M. (Costello) Fiume, who he married on September 13, 1969. They were married in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Pittston, PA. Their reception was held in the Mayfair Supper Club which is where they first met as teenagers and then reunited after college. They have been together ever since. He is also survived by his son Peter O. “Tige” Fiume of Oregon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother James Fiume and his beloved pup, Poochie.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
