Peter Shumway

Peter “Pete” Silas Shumway, age 58, of Orrtanna, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his home. Born October 6, 1955, he was the son of the late Harold Silas and Dorothy Bogema Shumway.
Pete was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a laborer at Letterkenny Army Depot. He enjoyed working in the yard and wood crafting. He also enjoyed coaching his children when they played baseball and softball and playing with his grandchildren. Pete served as a Cub Scout leader and helped with the PTO when his children were in school.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Musser Shumway; three children, Peter Matthew Shumway of Brooklyn, NY, Megan Lyn Teachey and husband Julius of Mont Alto, PA, and Bethany Hill French of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Jaylynne, Myresha, Jenayah, and Miraylyn Teachey; and three sisters, Kimberly Shabman of Jacksonville, FL, Pandy Hallissey and husband Peter of New London, CT, and Samantha Shumway of New London, CT.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
