Phyllis F. Gross, 96, of Chambersburg, and formerly of York County, passed away Monday afternoon, June 13, 2022 at The Shook Home in Chambersburg. Born February 21, 1926 in East Manchester Township, York County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Cora Myers Fink. Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of the Manchester High School, Manchester, PA and went on to graduate from the York School of Beauty. Early in her life she was employed at the York Paper Box Company. She retired in 1988 after many years with the Topflight Corporation in North York. Following her retirement she worked part-time at Fink’s Machine Shop near Zions View, PA. Mrs. Gross also operated a beauty shop at her home for a number of years. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. Phyllis will be sadly missed by all. Her hobbies included traveling, baking, and cooking, especially her chicken pot pie and her homemade sauerkraut.
She is survived by two sisters, M. Jane Killinger of Clearwater, FL and Linda M. Smith of Chambersburg, PA with whom she resided; four nieces; and three nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover G. Gross; her sister, Annabelle F. Becker; and her brothers, John C. Fink and Richard H. Fink.
At her request there will be no service. Private interment will be at Quickel’s Cemetery in York County, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
