Phyllis E. Kaiser, 89, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, April 10, 2012 at the Village of Laurel Run, where she had been residing for the past year. Born July 8, 1922 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late J. Edward and Effie Martin Shatzer.
A 1940 graduate of the Greencastle High School, she had been a cook in the restaurant business most of her life, retiring in 1984. She was last employed at the former Buttonwood Cafeteria at Letterkenny Army Depot. Mrs. Kaiser was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence E. Kaiser, Jr., whom she married July 18, 1949; a son, David L. Kaiser of Evergreen, CO; two daughters, Judith A. (Kelso) Cushing of Dover, PA, and Ellen M. (Kaiser) Shaffer of Lakewood, CO; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, John S. Kelso, Jr., 7 brothers and 5 sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Clyde H. Deshong, III will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday and from 12:30-1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
