Phyllis M. Keyes Purvis

Chambersburg

Phyllis M. Keyes Purvis, 86, of Chambersburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at her home. Born April 7, 1938 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Tasker and Evelyn Nettie Keyes. Her beloved husband, Eugene C. “Pete” Purvis, whom she married on December 23, 1960, preceded her in death on November 3, 2010.

Early in her life, Phyllis was employed in the kitchen at the Graffenburg Inn in Fayetteville. She was later employed at the Gettysburg Shoe Factory then went back to food service at Penn Hall Girls Boarding School, and most recently was employed at Knouse Foods until her retirement. During her retirement she was committed to helping raise her grandson, Jamie. She was a member of Brownsville Church of God in Fayetteville. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching TV game shows, trivia, fishing, and going out to eat. Phyllis had a great sense of humor and also enjoyed telling and hearing jokes as she loved to laugh.

She is survived by two children, Eugene C. Purvis, Jr., and June M. Purvis, both of Chambersburg; one grandson, Jamie E. Purvis and wife Gabrielle of Philadelphia; one great grandson, Roman Purvis; one brother; Richard Keyes; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Brown, and Sterling Keyes. She will be greatly missed by the family dog, Ivana The Terrible.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Victor Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment at Parklawns Memorial Gardens will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org, or to the Brownsville Church of God, 6390 Lincoln Way E., Fayetteville, PA 17222.
