Polly Carnathan Jaymes, 67, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services. Born August 5, 1947 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Gloria Barnes Carnathan. Polly received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Education from Lebanon Valley College. She began her teaching career in Delaware, where she taught for two years. She married her husband Steven on April 13, 1974 and moved to Chambersburg at which time she began substitute teaching in the Chambersburg Area School District. From 1990 until her retirement in 2000 she taught music and served as the choral director at Shalom Christian Academy. She was a member of Zion Covenant Church in Chambersburg where she played keyboard for the worship team. Polly liked spending time and traveling with her husband. She especially enjoyed buying Christmas gifts for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Steven E. Jaymes; two daughters, Melanie Lowe (husband David, Jr.) and Katie Berger (husband Raymond, Jr.); and five grandchildren, all of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Zion Covenant Church, 1102 Locust Street, Chambersburg, PA. Elder Willie Dingeldein and Elder Ted Crist will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and from 9:00-10:00AM Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions in Polly’s memory may be made to Shalom Christian Academy, where she taught, at 126 Social Island Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
