R. Jean Ditzler, 78, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 4, 1944 in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Robert S. Lenherr, Sr. and Pauline R. Horsh Lenherr.
Early in her life Jean was employed at the Stanley Co. She was employed as a waitress at several restaurants, lastly Schoenberger’s, until her retirement. Jean was a member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ in Chambersburg. She enjoyed flowers, country and western music, craft shows, and loved the Christmas season. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Kenneth E. Ditzler, whom she married on May 30, 1986; three sons, Kevin Helman and wife Donna of Fayetteville, Rodney Helman and wife Shawn of Chambersburg, and Kirk Helman of MD; three step-sons, Kenneth C. Ditzler and wife Cathy of Chambersburg, Kyle Ditzler of Chambersburg, and Kirk Ditzler of Ocean Park, ME; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; seven siblings, Donald Lenherr, Faye Carbaugh, Robert S. “Bobby” Lenherr, Jr., Dennis Lenherr, Cheryl Hockenberry, Tina McCleaf, and Max Lenherr; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Lenherr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2022 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Peter Emig will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
