Rachel Barton

Rachel Carolyn Barton, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born December 25th in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of late Robert Joseph Barton and Frances “Judy” Cuff Barton.
Rachel attended Chambersburg Area School District and was a devoted mother, homemaker and a full-time caregiver for her mother for many years before going to work full time at Shook Home as a housekeeper in 1997. She was a devoted employee there until her retirement in December of 2016. Her greatest achievement was her family and her greatest passion was spending time with them and caring for them; she had a special relationship with all of her children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She also loved shopping and cooking. Born on Christmas Day, she used those two passions to the fullest, making that holiday extra special every year for her family.
Surviving are her children, Robert J. Barton (wife Josie) of Byron, GA; Jessie C. Barton of Chambersburg, Randy E. Barton of Columbia SC, Geri L. Barton-Keyes (husband Kenny) of Hagerstown, MD, beloved niece that she helped raise, Judith L. Flythe (husband Denny) of Chambersburg, one sister, Alice E. Moore of Chambersburg, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her long-time partner and love of her life, Thomas “Knute” Tarlton, one son, Jeffrey A. Barton, one brother, Lawrence R. Barton and two sisters, Delores “Pee Wee” Tarlton and Florine F. “Flute” Keith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 25th at Geisel Funeral home in Chambersburg, PA at 11:00am. The family will receive family and friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be immediately following the ceremony at Lebanon Cemetery, 906 Lincoln Way, Chambersburg, PA.
