Ralph Edward Dicken, 57, of Mercersburg, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Chambersburg Hospital. All seemed to be going well in his life when he suddenly felt ill that evening. He went to a neighbor’s home, they called an ambulance for him, and he died at the hospital of cardiac arrest.
Born September 5, 1958, he was the son of the late Ralph Emmit and Ellen Louise Yeager Dicken.
Ed had suffered greatly over the loss of his late wife, Cheryl Ann Mink Dicken, in April of 2012. Since then, he had accepted Jesus as his Savior, and attended Blairs Valley First Church of God in Clear Spring, MD. Found in his home, on a tablet, Ed had written these words, “I love our Lord God, I love you Jesus. Amen.”
He had worked at Fairchild Hiller, and then at Roadway Express, from where he retired in September of 2015. Recently, he had been working at the Whitetail Resort, and at the Yogi Bear Campground.
He enjoyed fishing, reading and canning tomatoes from his garden. He was interested in History, especially of the Civil War and of World War II, in which his father served.
He is survived by his sister, Saundra Dicken(s) of Chambersburg, PA. He and his late wife had no children.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
