Ralph Purvis

Ralph Purvis, age 80, of Chambersburg, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on February 12, 1931 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Curtis and Marion Norman Purvis.

A US Army veteran, Ralph retired with over 25 years of service to his country; he then went on to work at Letterkenny Army Depot where he retired in 1993. Ralph enjoyed animals, especially his dogs, he also enjoyed fishing, boxing, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lieselotte Gimbel Purvis; his loving children, Michael Purvis of Watertown, NY; Melanie Purvis of Sunrise, FL; Vernon Woodley of Seattle, WA; Ralph Purvis, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA; Roger Purvis of Chambersburg, PA; Rick Purvis and his wife, Lisa of Magnolia, NJ; Yvonne Purvis of Chambersburg, PA; and Rocko Purvis and his wife Beth of Shippensburg, PA; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Alice Quivers, Helen Berry, and Dotty Purvis, all of Chambersburg, PA; and his beloved sister-in-law, Petra Grado-Hein of Kansas City, KS In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis, Jr., Donald L., and Eugene Purvis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 1, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Dr. Allie Harper officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 7-9 PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
