Ralph Scott Jr., age 78, of White Church Road Shippensburg, passed away quietly on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in his home. Born on October 20, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Ralph and Blanche Cook Scott. He was married to the late Emma Jean Thomas Scott on June 7, 1951. She preceded him in death on July 14, 1969.
Ralph was employed for over 26 years at the former DeRose Industries in Chambersburg. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League in Chambersburg, Hub City Club and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 in Shippensburg; and a member of the Minnequa Club, the Detrich Brechbill American Legion Post 612 in St. Thomas an the Hume McNeil Byers Amvets Post 224 in Chambersburg. Some of his interests included NASCAR, throwing horseshoes, bowling, fishing and hunting.
Ralph is survived by 7 children, Ralph Scott III of Shippensburg, Donna Durner, Kim Scott, and Bill Scott, all of Chambersburg, Frank Scott of Shippensburg, Cathy Jones of Chambersburg, and Blanche Carpenter of Fayetteville; two brothers, Bob Scott of Fayetteville and Jim Scott of Chambersburg; one sister, Betty O’Brien of Scotland; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Aside from his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Scott and three sisters, Blanche Golden, Alice Carbaugh and Dort Truett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Reuben Coldsmith officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
