Ralph E. Yeager, Sr., 80, of New Franklin, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 8, 1938 in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late John R. Yeager, Sr. and Ethel Kennedy Yeager.
A 1956 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Ralph went on to work at Rife Motors in Chambersburg, first as shop manager, and later in the parts department, retiring in 2011. He was a life member at the Marine Corps League, and a member of the Amvets Post #224 , the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, and the Moose Lodge #842, all in Chambersburg. He was also a life member at the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Company. Ralph enjoyed building late model dirt track race cars and racing the local circuit. In his later years, he enjoyed league bowling two nights a week at Nellie Fox. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family, and his beloved fur babies, Maggie Mae and Abigail.
Ralph is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Deborah Carbaugh Yeager, whom he married on July 5, 1975; as well as his sons Stephen Yeager (Tina), of Fayetteville, and Ralph E. Yeager, Jr. (Cheri), of New Franklin; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, John and wife Dotty, Richard and wife Loraine, both of New Franklin, and Chester and wife Donna of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
