Randolph F. Patterson (CDR, USN Ret.), age 88 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Menno Haven Nursing Home. Born September 17, 1925 in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Wydie Webb Patterson.
A graduate of the Naval Academy, Randy went on to dedicate over 21 years of service to the Navy, retiring in 1968. He was an active community member, volunteering in various capacities and working with the Wounded Warrior Project. Randy was an avid fly fisherman.
Surviving are his step-children, Suzy Yindra (husband Frank) of Herndon, VA Betsy Brown (husband Ren Serey) of Silver Spring, MD and; his grandchildren, Sarah White (husband Paul Laban); Carolyn Ehn (Christian); and Rebecca Serey; and his great- grandchildren, Abigail, Alice, and Ben . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rand Patterson and wife, Peggy N. Patterson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 10 AM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 26945 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Christopher Frye will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium, Arlington, VA at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
