Randy Sowers

Randy W. Sowers, 57, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Hershey Medical Center. Born August 15, 1960 in Darmstadt, Germany, he was a son of Diane Muller Poston of Fayetteville, and the late William D. Sowers. Randy was a 1979 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and was employed for many years at Dilly’s in Chambersburg where he worked as a manager and bartender. Earlier in his life he managed the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, both in Chambersburg. He was a member of numerous clubs in Chambersburg throughout his life, including the Chambersburg Club, the American Legion, and Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and was a fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Georgina Gibbons; two sons, Randy W. Sowers, Jr. (Kellie Breen) of Chambersburg and Jamie R. Sowers (Michelle A.) of Twinsburg, OH; his step-son Justin Doyle (Heather Showers) of Fayetteville; grandchildren Camden, Rylie, Randy, III, and Aubrey; and step grandchildren Patrick and Cody. He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl L. Mell (Ron) of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews. Aside from his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Sowers, on May 27, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until Noon on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Services and interment will be private.
