Rastus “Rat” Baker, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 16, 1934 in Big Laurel, KY, he was a son of the late Willie and Maude Turner Baker. Mr. Baker founded Baker Beverage, which has been in business in Chambersburg since 1958. He had attended The Open Door Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin. He had a love for dogs and enjoyed softball.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Lois Stoner Baker; his son, Terry L. Baker and wife Rebel of Chambersburg; his daughter, Diana M. Baker of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Angie Dietrich of Hagerstown, MD and David Baker and wife Shannon of Mechanicsburg; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kyler, and Ariella. He is also survived by three sisters, Mildred Wilder of Harlen, KY, Mossie Sites of Chambersburg, and Jean Bumbaugh of Shippensburg; two brothers, Berry Baker and wife Sarah of Chambersburg and Bill Baker and wife Shelva of New Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Otis, Denny, and John Baker; and a sister, Mabel Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dennis A. Sites will officiate. Interment will follow at Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and from Noon-1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
