Ray D. Wagaman, Jr., age 70, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away at York Hospital on Monday, April 12, 2021. Born May 10, 1950, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of Loretta Kauffman Hardsock and the late Ray D. Wagaman, Sr.
A 1968 graduate of CASHS, Mr. Wagaman went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam Conflict, where he was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart among other medals. He continued his service working as a Missile Inspector at Letterkenny Army Depot for a total of 33 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed guns, completing models, and coin collecting.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, of 12 years, Cynthia Walters Wagaman, whom he married on October 20, 2008; two children, Ray D. “Sam” Wagaman, III (wife Michelle) of Waynesboro, PA and Brittini Wagaman (companion Adam) of Hagerstown, MD; two step children, Kevin Paul (wife Kelly) of Chambersburg, PA and Kelsey Paul of VA Beach, VA; seven grandchildren, and two siblings, Donna Atherton of Chambersburg, PA and Noreen Buhl (husband Joe) of NC.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 10 :30 AM in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
