Raymond Carson

Raymond Ray Carson, a guest at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA died Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Born May 3, 1924 at New Paris, Bedford County, PA, he was a son of the late Franklin Carson and Margaret Logue Carson Kinzey. Mr. Carson served with the US Army for three years during WWII. He was employed at the former H.J. Heinz Company in Chambersburg for thirty years. Following the closure of Heinz’s Chambersburg plant, Mr. Carson was employed for eleven years as a consultant to Heinz Worldwide Engineering. He was a life member and Past Commander of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, a life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, and a member of Norland Chapter #3261 AARP, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Anna Barefoot Carson, whom he married December 14, 1946; a son, James R. Carson and wife Angela; two grandsons, Scott Carson and wife Erica, and Mark Carson, all of Chambersburg; two great-grandsons Owen and Chase Carson; two step-grandsons, David Gladfelter of Chambersburg and Matthew McCulloh and wife Fawne of Mercersburg. He is also survived by three sisters, Susan E. Rose of Chambersburg, Anna Mae Miller of Bedford, and Hazel C. Frazier and husband Harry of St. Thomas; two brothers, George Carson and wife Elizabeth of Maryland, and James N. Carson and wife Marjorie of St. Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

There will be no viewing. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 16, 2011 at Lincoln Cemetery. Rev. Rick Noll will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
