Raymond Ferg

September 20, 1949 — January 3, 2018

Raymond “Scott” Ferg, 68, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 at his home. Born September 20, 1949 in Washington, PA, he was a son of the late Harold Grant Ferg and Miriam Katherine Rowland Ferg. He attended the California University of Pennsylvania and received his MBA from Wilson College. Early in life he worked at a coal mine with J & L Steel in western Pennsylvania for twelve years. He was most recently employed as a Numerical Control Programmer for 27 years at TB Woods Sons, Inc. in Chambersburg. He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Club and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Scott enjoyed his work; watching ice hockey; reading; and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Illona Penelope “Penny” Katko Ferg, whom he married May 10, 1969; two sons, Raymond Scott Ferg II of Chambersburg and William Byron Ferg of Loganville, PA; and two grandchildren, Helen Rose Ferg and Devin William Ferg, both of Loganville. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nelson Ferg and his sister, Mardell Williamson.

A memorial service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
