Raymond G. Smalley, 90, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Friday afternoon, November 8, 2013 at his home. Born April 25, 1923 in South River, NJ, he was a son of the late Gustav and Emilie Wedemeyer Smalley. He served with the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WWII and with the US Naval Air Wing during the Korean War. Mr. Smalley later retired from Dupont in Parlin, NJ, where he had been employed for many years. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in South River and is a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Ada I. Viel Smalley whom he married on November 1, 1952; his daughter, Corinne (Smalley) Isak, her husband George Isak, and their sons Kyle and Justin Isak; his son, Craig Smalley, his wife Deborah (Rusin), and their son Justin Smalley; and a sister, Martha Eichert. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smalley was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gus Smalley; and three sisters, Carol Chernowetz, Dorothy Voorhees, and Meta Kellenberger.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday November 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will be private.
