Reed Cromer

Reed “Bud” Cromer, age 78 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away in the York Hospital on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Born in Ft. Littleton, PA on May 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Robert Bruce and Estelle Wible Cromer.

A U. S. Army veteran, Bud served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Bud has been employed at Baltimore Mack, the former Interstate Truck, for more than 41 years beginning his career in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg. Bud enjoyed working on small engines, baseball, football, and basketball.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Esther Humwood Guyer Cromer, whom he married on November 26, 1983; three step children, Fred “Dusty” Guyer, Jr. (wife Sue) of Chambersburg, PA, Michael Guyer of Fayetteville, PA, and LTC Chester “Chet” Guyer (wife Michele) of Fairfax, VA; seven step-grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and two siblings, Robert “Boyd” Cromer of Ft. Littleton, PA and Helen Long of Waterfall, PA. Bud is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Ron Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
