Reginald F. “Reggie” Kendall, age 82, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2020, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 14, 1939 in Smithsburg, MD, he was a son of the late Howard and Charlotte Yowler Kendall. He attended school in Smithsburg, MD and served honorably in the US Army. During his time in the Army, he was awarded a safe driver award while serving with the 4th Armored Division in Germany for driving military vehicles 4,000 miles without an accident or traffic violation. A life-long truck driver he retired in 2016 from Napa Transportation. During his driving career he received numerous safe driving awards and was named Trucker of the Year. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching his favorite driver, Bill Elliott. He enjoyed dirt track racing and served on his nephew’s pit crew at Hagerstown Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, and Selinsgrove Speedway. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his cat, Betsy. Reggie enjoyed talking about trucking, racing, politics and he enjoyed his daily games of Solitaire. His beloved wife, Lucille Raines Kendall, preceded him in death on August 10, 2019
He is survived by his daughter, Kristine E. McDonald of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Courtney Swartz and husband David Tkach, Brandon Swartz and wife Allison, and Tyler Shubert; six great-grandchildren, Clara and Luca Tkach, Cameron and Harper Swartz, and Madisynn and Makenna Shubert. He is also survived by his son-in-law William Robert Shubert, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Shubert, a grandson, William Robert Shubert III, son-in-law, Robert McDonald, Jr., and a number of brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery, 4025 Fetterhoff Chapel Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Terry Hoke will officiate.
