Rev. Arthur Kuehn

Rev. Arthur H. Kuehn, 79, of Fayetteville, PA, died at the Colestock Center, Quincy Village, PA on Friday, January 22, 2016. He was born in 1936 in Cincinnati, OH the son of the late Dorothy and Harry Kuehn.

Rev. Kuehn graduated from Withrow High School, Wilmington College, and Colgate-Rochester Divinity School. He was listed in Who’s Who In High School, College, and Religion. He was ordained as an American Baptist minister in 1961, and served churches in Ohio, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Maine, and was the Senior Pastor at the Inter-Faith Chapel at Leisure World, Silver Spring, MD when he retired in 2001. Rev. Kuehn loved to travel, leading seven tours to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. Rev. and Mrs. Kuehn spent one summer living in Israel, working on an archeological dig and studying at Tantur, a Catholic Retreat Center between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. He was an athlete his entire life and was very proud to have been a Senior Olympian. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg. He believed that God loves every human being — regardless of gender, race, or religion — and we, as Christians, are to spread the love of God as taught by Jesus Christ.

Rev. Kuehn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys Kuehn whom he married on June 12, 1959; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Donald Kindl of Frederick, MD and Krista Kuehn and Kendall Uzar of Bloomfield, CT; three grandchildren, Stephen and fiancée Michele, Stacey, and Scott Kindl. He is also survived by one brother, Rev. Dr. Vernon Kuehn of Redford, MI and nieces and nephews.


A celebration of Rev. Kuehn’s life will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201 on Sunday, January 31, at 3:00pm with Rev. Scott Bowerman officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the PET (Personal Energy Transport) project at Penney Farms, FL , where Art volunteered for many years; PET Florida Penney Farms, P.O.
