Thomas W. Eifert, DMin
The Rev. Dr. Thomas William Eifert, 86, of Fayetteville, passed peacefully from us on February 16, 2024 and is now at home with his Lord and Savior. He was born to the late Edgar and Luella Eifert in Perham Minnesota on March 17, 1937.
Tom comes from a distinguished line of Lutheran pastors including his father, grandfather and six uncles. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia Senior College, Indiana; Bachelor of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; Master of Sacred Theology in Pastoral Counselling from Andover Newton Theological School, Boston; and Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counselling from the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago. He served as pastor in Canton, Massachusetts; Malverne and Brooklyn, New York. He co-founded the Lutheran Counseling Center of New York.
Among his many interests, Tom was a skilled carpenter, avid reader, creative writer, classical music enthusiast, and model railroader. He loved to have a good laugh and a fine glass of Tennessee whiskey.
Tom is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Judi (Brill) Eifert. They were married in 1962 and had three children; Jennifer Kroez (Robert) of New York, Jonathan Eifert (Christina) of Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Bloom of New Jersey; five grandchildren; Matthew, Emilie, Anna, Thomas, and Hannah. Tom is survived also by his brother Daniel. He was loved and will be missed by many friends and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, on Friday February 23 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.
