Rev. Sampson R. Myers, Sr., 77, of Chambersburg, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born August 30, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Sampson and Emma J. Brunner Myers.
Rev. Myers was the Pastor of The Abundant Life Chapel in Chambersburg for over 40 years. He also was employed at ACME Market for 27 years until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family, and working at his church. He also enjoyed hunting, and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rev. Nancy Miller Myers, whom he married on December 17, 1955; five children, Sampson R. Myers, Jr. of Chambersburg, Steven W. Myers of Chambersburg, Sharon E. Defenderfer and husband Thomas of Hershey, Scott A. Myers of Frederick, MD, and Shannon C. Myers of Chambersburg; seven granddaughters, Misty Myers, Stephanie Myers, Alisha Mottern, Angela Beck, Jessica Defenderfer, Jerusha Gill and Jaina Shirk; four grandsons, Shannon Myers, Jr., Dyon Taylor-Myers, Aaron Myers, and Jacob Myers; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Ken Myers, Helen Myers, and Marie Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Esther White and Benjamin Gill will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
