Rhoda Cornelius

Rhoda M. Cornelius, age 99, of Willow Hill, PA, passed away at the Shippensburg Health Care Center, Shippensburg, PA on Friday, April 15, 2016. Born February 11, 1917, in Fannettsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Crawford and Jane Cramer Everett.

Mrs. Cornelius was a farmer’s wife for 34 years, dedicating time to the operation and her family. She also worked at the former Spring Run Sewing Factory until her retirement at age 80. In addition, she worked at Knouse Foods. Mrs. Cornelius was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church. Not one to take many breaks, she enjoyed working, gardening, and baking pies and bread.

Surviving is her daughter, Wanda M. Gipe of Willow Hill, PA; three grandchildren, K. Mark Gipe (wife Rebecca) of Carlisle, PA, Lori McAllen (husband Ronald) of Spring Run, PA, and Steven Gipe (wife Mary Ellen) of Mercersburg, PA; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsy and Kenton Shade McAllen, Lauren, Ashlynn, and Emma Grace Gipe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Wib” F. Cornelius on December 19, 1969, and three siblings, Dora Gallagher, Emerson Everett, and Glen Everett.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 11 AM at the Metal Township Cemetery, Ft. Loudon, PA, where Rev. Dr. Marlin Snider and Pastor Phil Foster will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Spring Run United Methodist Church, c/o Shirley Morton, 20568 Spring Run Road, Spring Run, PA 17262 or to the Metal Methodist Cemetery Association c/o Bonnie Dell, 8427 Sweetwater Rd., Ft.
