Richard Alsedek

Richard D. Alsedek, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, March 26, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born August 17, 1937 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Albert and Dorothy G. Seiler Alsedek. Mr. Alsedek earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Oregon State and retired in 1995 from DESCOM at Letterkenny Army Depot. An avid outdoorsman, he had a life-long passion for fishing and also enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed working with wood, tying flies, and vegetable gardening after retiring.

Mr. Alsedek is survived by his wife, Karen Fischer Alsedek, whom he married July 23, 1960; his son, Steven M. Alsedek of Dallas, TX; his daughter, Susan A. Starr and husband Mic of Chambersburg; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Isaac Starr. He is also survived by two brothers, Albert E. Alsedek and wife Connie of Mt. Joy and Ronald Alsedek of Harrisburg; and two sisters, Nancy Heberle of Harrisburg, and Joanna Kraft and husband Ralph of Johnstown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ann Alsedek.

A service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, PA. Rev. Eloise Shanley will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
