Richard K. “Dick” Garman, age 84, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born October 30, 1932, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John Floyd and Susan Elizabeth McKelvey Garman.
A 1952 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mr. Garman went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Borough of Chambersburg for 43 years, retiring as Supervisor of the Public Works Department. Mr. Garman was a member of King Street Church and a life member of the NRA.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Lois “Hazie” Carver, whom he married on May 16, 1959; two sons, Douglas Garman (wife Ann Marie) of Littlestown, PA and Kip Garman (wife Tracy) of Gardners, PA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Alex, Anna Elizabeth, and Olivia; and a sister in law, Maxine Cardoni. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Donald Garman and a brother in law, Joseph Cardoni.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 1 PM in Norland Cemetery, 2295 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Rev. Ron Cook and Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Military honors will be performed by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
