Richard F. “Dick” Hambright, age 77, of Fayetteville, PA, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in his home. Born on August 5, 1933 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Robert P. Hambright and Verta Belle Kelley Hambright.
After graduating in 1952 from the former Chambersburg High School, Dick served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. A lifelong truck driver Dick logged over 4 million miles on his truck. He retired from Charles Karper Trucking, but then drove for H.C. Gabler Trucking during his retirement. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and a charter member of the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department.
Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Noll Hambright, whom he married on March 5, 1965; two sisters, Betty Wiley of Palm Harbor, FL and Doris H. Schellhase of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Eugene, and a sister, Jane Bryant.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with Pastor Thomas Willis and Pastor Mike Baumgardner officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, where members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
