Richard Dominic Montello, 64, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 26, 1954 in Spangler, PA, he was the son of Martha “Betty” Magulick Montello of Northern Cambria, PA and the late James Richard Montello. Rich earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Slippery Rock University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Shippensburg University. He was employed for approxiametly 30 years as a special education teacher with the Greencastle-Antrim School District, retiring in 2015. He was a member of Corpus Christi Cathlolic Church in Chambersburg. Rich was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He loved the Chambersburg YMCA where he spent time working out and socializing daily. Above all else, Rich enjoyed the simple things in life and lived each day to the fullest. His kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those who know and loved him. His wife, Lucinda “Cindy” Serafin Montello, whom he married December 27, 1986, preceded him in death on March 30, 2007.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen Montello Weiser and husband Matthew of Royersford; his son, James Paul Montello and wife Katie of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Aden and Nova; his sister, Mary Angela Eisenhart and husband David of Arendtsville; and his loving companion, Susan Ashlin of Roxbury.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rev. Richard Lyons at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Corpus Christi Church, 320 Phildelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Private interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
