Richard Murphy

Richard J. Murphy, 94, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, in Menno Haven Rehab. Born April 22, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Paul F. and Jessie (Lowry) Murphy.
He graduated Harrisburg Catholic High School in Harrisburg, PA and then went on to obtain his bachelor's degree in economics from Penn State University. Following that Dick served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge. Dick was employed as budget analyst in the civil sector of the Army in Korea for a number of years.
He was a member of the NRA, National Skeet Shooting Association, American Legion in St. Thomas, PA, St. Thomas Sportsman Association and both the Chambersburg and St. Thomas Rod & Gun Clubs.
He is survived by nine nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kiyoko Murphy and a brother, Paul F. Murphy, Jr.
Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
