Richard D. “Dick” Parks, Jr., 47, of Chambersburg, PA, died unexpectedly Friday, March 15, 2013. Born September 19, 1965 in Chambersburg, he was a son of Richard D. Parks, Sr. of Chambersburg and the late Dorothy I. Harding Parks. Dick was a 1984 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was currently employed as a truck driver at Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe in Chambersburg. He was previously employed by Horst Trucking in Hagerstown. Dick was a dedicated and loving family man who especially enjoyed spending time with his children. His hobbies included cooking, traveling, riding 4-wheelers, and he loved his dogs. He attended Cornerstone Church of Christ in Chambersburg.

In addition to his father, Dick is survived by his wife, Beverly D. Burkett Parks, whom he married April 6, 1991; two children, Ashley Amber Parks and Jordan Richard Parks, both at home; four brothers, Robert R. Parks and fiancé Alyce Minnahan of Shade Gap, PA, John D. Parks of Valencia, CA, Brian D. Parks and wife Brenda and David B. Parks and wife Jody, all of Chambersburg; a sister, Donna L. Frey and husband Rodney E. of Coaldale, PA; and his step-mother, Dorothy M. Hedrick Parks of Chambersburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Road, Chambersburg, PA, with Rev. Travis Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family to help defray funeral expenses in care of Beverly Parks, 2024 Lehman Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
