Richard Randall

Rev. Richard Alan Randall, 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on January 5, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to Barbara and Robert Randall. Richard was a devoted and faithful man, known for his gentle, quiet personality and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Jean (Aston), and their daughters, Barbara (Randall) and Marian (Echevarria). He was a loving father-in-law to Kyle Clever and Matthew Echevarria. Richard was also a proud grandfather to Amalia, Catherine, Quinton, Clark, and Brienne. He is also survived by his siblings, Frederick Randall, Joann Birch, and Kathleen Higgs.

Richard's educational journey included attending Wayne University in Detroit, Michigan, and Seabury Western Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He was ordained to the priesthood on January 23, 1971.

Throughout his 50+ year ministry, Richard served in various roles, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served. He was the Rector Curate of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing, MI, from 1970 to 1972. Richard then became the Vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Brookville, PA, and Good Shepherd Mission in Punxsutawney, PA, from 1972 to 1978. From 1978 to 1987, he served as the Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Shamokin, PA, and from 1987 to 2000, he served as the Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg, PA.

Even after his official retirement in 2000, Richard continued to dedicate his life to serving others. He worked as the Chaplain for WellSpan Summit Health from 2002 to 2013 and later became a full-time Associate Priest to the congregation of Prince of Peace Memorial Church in Gettysburg, PA. Richard was also involved with the All Saints Sisters of the Poor in Catonsville, MD, serving as a Priest Associate from 1977 until his passing.

In addition to his ministry, Richard had a passion for reading, needlepointing book covers, keeping up with politics, going to the movies, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was particularly known for his love of St. Nicholas and enjoyed sharing the history and lore of St. Nicholas with the children of our community.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 20 W. High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Light refreshments to follow. The Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 20 W. High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

Fr. Randall will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unwavering faith, dedication to his ministry, and love for his family and community will leave a lasting legacy. As his final act of service, Richard gave the gift of life through organ donation. He was loved beyond measure.
