Richard Reasner

Richard R. Reasner, 85, of Fayetteville, PA, died Sunday evening, July 14, 2013 at home. Born July 21, 1927 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Ralph and Bertha McClure Reasner. A US Army veteran of WWII, Richard retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1982. Following his retirement he had been employed at Weis Market and Keebaugh Sheet Metal. His wife, Janet M. Keebaugh Reasner, whom he married in February of 1946, preceded him in death on May 8, 2005.
Richard was a Charter Member of the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Company and volunteered with the AARP Tax Aide program. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, the Chambersburg Club, Marine Corps League, AMVETS Post 224, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, all in Chambersburg. He enjoyed tinkering and his hobbies included hunting and golf.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard R. Reasner Jr. and wife Phyllis of Fayetteville; his daughter, Sandra D. Munson and husband Dwight, of Upper Strasburg; seven grandchildren, Robert K. Reasner, Lori A. Tosten, Rodney A. Sprow, Valerie D. Kane, Amy S. Reasner, Velvet A. Houser, and Dwight E. Munson, Jr.; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Glenn A. Reasner; and three sisters, Frances G. Horne, Sarah J. Reese, and Alice Faye Staley. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret V. Schaul, Helen G. Reasner Gerhold, Grace K. Trimmer, and Dorothy M. Reasner; and nine brothers, Clyde J., J. Lindsey, Ralph M., Charles D., Earl L., Frank P., George S., C. Henry, and Lloyd K. Reasner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Dwight Munson, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors by members of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
