Richard Schrecengost

August 17, 1949 — October 16, 2014

On October 16, 2014, the core of the Schrecengost Family left them very unexpectedly. Richard Lee “Rich” Schrecengost was born August 17, 1949 in Paulton, PA to the late Howard and Ella Mae Schrecengost. After graduating from Kiski Area High School in 1967, he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1971. Rich enjoyed a lifelong career in the construction industry. He was incredibly dedicated to his family and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family was the light of his life and that was obvious to anyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene R. Schrecengost; three children, Geoffery J. Schrecengost (Danielle Draper) of Sharpsburg, MD, Sissy Marler-Schilling and husband Brian of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Julie Schrecengost (Huey Brown) of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren, Luke Marler, Vivian Barron, and Nathaniel Brown. He is also survived by nine siblings, Harold Schrecengost, Grace Sansaucy, Ruth Bash, Donald Schrecengost, Judy Wald, Linda Phelps, Pam Mamros, Susie Coghaln, and Jean Haider, as well as their spouses; members of the Anderson Family and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Xavier N. Barron.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, October 24, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Due to their generosity toward his family during the care of Xavier, contributions in Rich’s memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania, 745 West Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033.
