Richard Wenger

Richard J. Wenger, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 in Manor Care Health Services of Chambersburg. Born on May 22, 1924 in Pleasant Hall, he was a son of the late Joseph Nisley Wenger and Clara Jane Stewart Wenger.

Richard served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1982 from Letterkenny Army Depot. After retirement he worked as a groundskeeper at Wilson College. He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Harrisburg, and The Open Door Church. Some of his hobbies included hunting and gardening.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jeannette Coover Crider Wenger; stepsons, Ryan Crider (and wife, Monica) and Michael Crider (and wife, LeAnn), all of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Melody Evans of Minnesota and William Stull of Ohio; step grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mariah, Alexa, Jonathan, Michael and Cassandra Crider, all of Chambersburg; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Coover Wenger, his daughter, Barbara Stull, and two sisters, Alice Eberly and Cora Forrester.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in The Open Door Church 600 Miller St. Chambersburg, PA, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201, or The Open Door church at the above address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
