Richard Williams

August 18, 1933 — May 24, 2018

Richard C. “Dick” Williams, age 84, of East Waterford, PA, entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2018, at the Brookline Nursing Home in Mifflintown, PA. Born August 18, 1933, in Blairs Mills, he was a son of the late Irvin “Ted” and Mary Smith Williams.



A proud U.S. Army veteran, Dick served honorably during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Hokkaido, Japan. Dick worked as a laborer at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he later retired. After retirement, Dick owned and operated a Pulpwood business and also worked for both Lack and Tuscarora Townships. He was a member of A New Beginning Community Church in Spruce Hill. In his earlier years, he enjoyed going horse back riding, watching NASCAR races, square dancing, gardening, and working in the woods. He also enjoyed country music, cars, and especially his red Monte Carlo.



Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Verna Gamble Williams; his children, Kathy Ippolito of Harrisburg, PA, James Williams and wife, Sarah of Spring Run, PA, Daniel Williams and wife, Brenda of Three Springs, PA, Debra Stuber of Elliottsburg, PA; step-son, James Hockenberry and wife, Jennifer of Newport, PA; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha Yohn and husband, Charles of Blairs Mills, PA and Irvin Williams and wife, Chris of Chambersburg, PA; and his brother in law, Bill Snyder and sister in law, Micki Williams; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverley Frey Williams, four siblings, William, Thomas, and Eugene Williams and Ruth Snyder; sisters-in-law, Carol and Sharon Williams; a grandson, Cody Williams; and a step-son, Bradford Hockenberry.



Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 10 AM in the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, PA, where Pastor Frank Swartz will officiate. The family will receive friends for viewing on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 6 – 9 PM in the funeral home; there will be no viewing prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, P.O.
