Robert Grant Baughman, Sr., 102, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, June 6, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 26, 1919 in Greene Township, Franklin County, PA, he was a son of the late Harry Ott and Lydia Viola Kohn Baughman. A carpenter all of his life, Mr. Baughman had been employed with Eber Cook and then later retired from C.V. Wenger, Inc. He also drove a school bus for many years. He was a long-time member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg where he had served on the Administrative Board; served as the Assistant Head Usher for many years; and volunteered his carpentry skills for numerous church projects. He enjoyed woodworking, quilting, latch hook, plastic canvas crafts, puzzles, and gardening. His wife, Ruth Marie Sites Baughman, whom he married November 6, 1943, preceded him in death on March 17, 2003.
Mr. Baughman is survived by five children, Mary Jane Baughman of Shippensburg, Rose M. Sato and husband Galen of Alexandria, VA, Robert G. Baughman, Jr. and wife Linda of Nokesville, VA, Terry W. Baughman and wife Dena of Shippensburg, and Jon C. Baughman and wife Andrea of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Heather, Angela, Travis, Remingtin, Grant, Joshua, and Isaac; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle V. Baughman; and two brothers, George Baughman and John H. Baughman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
