Robert Bittinger

Robert C. Bittinger, age 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 6, 2014. Born May 31, 1934, in Greene Township, he was the son of the late Clyde M. and Mary Cormany Bittinger.
A plant operator for the Boro of Chambersburg for 16 years, Mr. Bittinger retired in 1996. He was a member of the White Tail Deer Association, the PA Deer Farmers Association and the Waynesboro Fish and Game. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and raising animals. Mr. Bittinger had attended Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Gladys Hinkle Bittinger, five children, Debra (husband Rob) Baughman, Terry Bittinger (wife Doreen), Bobbie Gindlesperger (husband Fred), Trudy Bowers (husband Richard), and Cindy McIntyre (husband Scott) all of Chambersburg, PA; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren, his twin brother, Bennett Bittinger of Chambersburg, PA, and one sister, June Saunders of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Gladys Elliott, Jay Bittinger, and Leon Bittinger.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Garry Kipe will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
