Robert F. “Biffy” Cramer, 84, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2014 at Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born November 1, 1929 in New Franklin, he was a son of the late Oscar J. and Minnie E. Gipe Cramer. A 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, he retired in 1995 from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD. He had also been employed as an insurance agent with the former Washington National Insurance Company and operated several businesses in Chambersburg throughout his lifetime. Mr. Cramer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, George Washington Lodge #143 F&AM, Royal Arch Chapter #176, Knights Templar #056, and the Scottish Rite Club. He was a life member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600, the Chambersburg Club, Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, and the Marine Corps League. He was a former member of the Zembo Temple, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest #145, the Waynesboro Shrine Club, Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion. Mr. Cramer played baseball early in his life and his hobbies included hunting, golfing, and attending sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Shank Cramer, whom he married December 5, 1953; his son, Robert S. Cramer and wife JoAnn; his daughter Cynthia L Happel and husband Joel; two grandchildren, Robert G. Cramer and wife Tara and Alysn E. Esposito and husband Justin; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey and Kelsey Happel; and a great-grandson, Owen Anthony Esposito. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cramer was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Oscar, Jr., and Richard Cramer; and a sister, Helen Heckman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 West Commerce Street, Chambersburg, PA, with Rev. Tara Magoon officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Wednesday at the church.
