Robert Crank

Robert L. Crank, 68, of Amberson, PA, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 after an eight month battle with cancer. Born November 6, 1943 in Indiana, he was a son of Helen L. Crank and the late Rudolph V. Crank. Robert was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, honorably discharged on February 23, 1971. He was retired from Letterkenny Army Depot and had his own bands, The Relations Band and Countryfide, for many years. He had last played guitar for the AK Country band. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6168, the Minnequa Social Club, and American Legion Post 223, all in Shippensburg. Bob had a passion for country music. He loved to have his family and friends gather together in the garage and play their guitars and sing.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Elma Linda (Gibbons) Crank; a brother, Rick Crank and wife Maryln; three sisters, Carol Barber, Pam Young (and husband Larry), and Nancy Mankin, all of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA with Rev. John Semple and Rev. Jeremy Leonard officiating. Interment with military honors by members of the McCartney Post 232 American Legion Color Guard will follow in Amberson Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
