Robert N. Durand, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 31, 1931 in Watertown, NY, he was a son of the late Roland and Anita Babcock Durand. A graduate of the Watertown High School, he went on to attend college in Canton, NY graduating with a degree in Dairy Science. Mr. Durand served with the US Army. He was employed throughout his lifetime in Quality Control within the dairy industry, beginning his career with Sealtest in 1954, and retiring from Land O’Lakes in 1996. He attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His hobbies included fishing, genealogy, and working with his computer.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Casey Durand, whom he married June 20, 1959; four daughters, Sharon Hawbaker and husband Melvin, Jr. of Chambersburg, Susan Kriner and husband Richard, II of Chambersburg, Stacey Estepp and husband Daniel of Woodbridge, VA, and Margaret Durand of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Casey, Caitlyn, and Clare; and a great-granddaughter, Caylea. Preceded in death by two brothers, he is survived by two sisters-in-laws, Joan (wife of the late Richard) Durand and Mary Jo (wife of the late David) Durand.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. James R. O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be no public viewing.
