Robert “Bob” Effland, Jr., 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday morning at his home. Born November 7, 1942 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Robert Effland, Sr. and Ruth Perry Effland. Bob served honorably in the US Army. He retired from Chambersburg Hospital where he had been employed in the housekeeping department for 18 years. He had also worked in construction and landscaping and at one time had been employed at T.B. Woods Sons, Inc. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of Christ in Chambersburg. Bob will be remembered as a hard worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Guyer Effland, whom he married February 22, 1964; his daughters Sueanne Marie Simpson and Bobbi Perry (husband Thomas); grandchildren Brianna Simpson, Jacob, Jesse, and Justin Perry; and great-grandchildren Gillian Groff, Miles Perry, and twins that are on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Effland; and three sisters, Kay Effland, Dorrine Delauter, and Kathy Frain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Brindle.
A graveside service with Military Honors provided by members of the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will be held at 9:30 AM Monday, August 31, 2020 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jerry Timbrook will officiate. A memorial service will follow the interment at 10:30 AM at Cornerstone Church in Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
