Robert E. “Bob” Estep, Jr., 76, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 3, 1947 in Huntingdon, PA he was the son of the late Robert E. Estep, Sr. and Urcille (Hess) Estep.

He was a graduate of St. Thomas High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, Bob served with the United States Air Force during Vietnam from September 13, 1965 until his honorable discharge January 23, 1969. 

Bob was employed as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot where he also served as the President of National Federation of Federal Employees Local 1429 as well as Chief Steward. He retired in 1998 after 30 Years at the Depot. Following his retirement he was employed as the greens keeper for Whitetail Golf Resort for over 10 years and at other various golf courses in the area including Majestic Ridge, Penn National, and Waynesboro Country Club. He and his wife attended King Street Church, Chambersburg. Bob enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, driving his 1964 Chevy Impala SS whenever he could, and more than anything spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In May, Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream of serving as the Grand Marshall of the 33rd Annual Cruisin’ Ocean City in Maryland. He was a backyard mechanic as well as a master at tinkering and spraying weeds and was very proud of his weed-free grass. Bob spent 35 years shooting pool with the Ft. Loudon American Legion Pool League. He was an active member of The American Legion for 56 years. He was also a member at the Great Cove Golf Course.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay (Martin) Estep who he married December 13, 1970; two children, Robert E. “Bobby” Estep, III and his wife Tisa of Fredericksburg, VA and Tiffany Seaman of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Spencer and Brady Seaman of Chambersburg and Robert E. “Robby” Estep, IV and Bella Estep of Fredericksburg; four siblings, Rick Estep and his wife Connie of Chambersburg, Jim Estep of Chambersburg, Sue Barnes and her husband Denny of St. Thomas, and Todd Estep and his wife Carole of Mercersburg, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in the sanctuary at King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. Ron Cook officiating. There will be a one hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. 

The family will receive friends for the viewing from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Military honors will be conducted following the viewing by the Honor Guard of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg at 8:30 PM in the parking lot of the funeral home.
