Robert E Ferris, 76, of Chambersburg, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2023 while surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.
Born December 31, 1946 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Algernon and Edith Lander Ferris. After Robert proudly served 2 tours as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam war, he went to work for Columbia Gas. He was very active in many community organizations and retired from NYSEG in 2003 as a Communities Project Manager. Bob was an active member of Antrim BIC church and in his spare time he enjoyed bicycling and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy L. Gutheil Ferris, 2 children Joette Paugh (Tom Bason) of Binghamton, NY, Jeremy Ferris (Jean) of Auburn, NY; 7 grandchildren Haley Ferris (Connor Darcy), Jerrod Ferris, Connor Paugh, Sarah and Katie Ferris, Keegan and Kali Paugh; 2 great grandchildren Quinn and Isla Darcy; 1 sister Linda Thorne (Doug) of Binghamton, NY and 1 brother in law Dave Gutheil (Heather) of Greensboro, NC along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice of Franklin County or Building Homes for Heroes.
