Robert Foreman

Robert L. Foreman, 66, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014 at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg. Born August 17, 1947 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Robert C. and Adaleine Hollinger Foreman. He married Darnell (Strait) Foreman on July 17, 1971. They were very dedicated to one another and through the years they loved to spend their time together.

Robert graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1965, and in 1966 graduated from the former Waynesboro Business School. He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot Electronics Division. After retirement, Robert worked part-time at Hamilton Hyundai in Chambersburg until he was unable to work due to his illness.

Robert was known by many to be an easy going person who always had a positive attitude and a smile. He was called Pap-Pa and Pappy by many little ones that were close to his heart. He also was called Dad by many who looked up to him. He enjoyed hunting, reading, local history, coins, the mountains, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. He will be missed by many.

He was an 8th generation descendent of the Foreman family in Franklin County, dating back to the mid 1700’s. He was a life member of the Franklin Fire Company, the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association, and PAN. He was a 3rd generation member, and currently Vice President of the Rouzerville Hunt Club, where he has been a member since October 31, 1965. He was a member of the Falling Spring Chapter #2840 AARP, the Kittochtinny Historical Society, the Friendly Coin Club of Chambersburg where he served many offices over the years, and the Quality Deer Management Association. He was also a volunteer for the Friends of Legal Services Book Sale. A member of the Chambersburg First Church of God, he had served on the Administration Council, the Board of Christian Education, the Task Force, and as Sunday School Superintendent and as an usher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Gary A. (married to Deborah) Foreman of Chambersburg. He also has two nephews, David J. Foreman and Troy Umbrell; two nieces, Tammy Umbrell and Tiffani Woodring; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; two great-great nephews; and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Keith Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Summit Health Cancer and Hematology Center, 755 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
