Robert B. “Bob” Hamsher, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully, Monday March 18, 2024. Born June 30, 1947 in Chambersburg he was the son of the late Robert J. and Grace I. (Reitz) Hamsher.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg Senior High School with the Class of 1965. Bob was employed as machinist for R&L Machine. He retired in 2012 after 47 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1599, AMVETS Post 224, Chambersburg Club, Marine Corps League, and Knight of Columbus all in Chambersburg. Bob supported veterans by serving as Sons of AMVETS Department Commander as well as serving in other offices over the years. He was an active shooter on the First PA Rifle “Bucktails” in the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting and shooting guns.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn J. (Monn) Hamsher who he married April 9, 1993; four children, Lori McClanahan (Sean), Stacey Nozzi (Jim), Noreen Lureman (Troy), and Joseph Tarner (Kathryn); eight grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Sprow, Emily and Zach Nozzi, Ashton Tarner, Octavia Lureman, and Michaela and Meredith Tarner; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Rylee Sprow. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his only brother, Gary Hamsher, and infant son, Jeff.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am AMVETS Post 224, 750 5th Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. Dr. Andy Hart and Chaplain Joe Stopyra officiating.
