Robert Lauver

September 14, 1922 — June 11, 2013

Robert O. Lauver, Sr., age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Providence Place Retirement Community. Born September 14, 1922 in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Florence Klinger Lauver.
A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Lauver served honorably during WWII, where he participated in the Battle at Rhineland. After the war, Mr. Lauver moved his family to Waynesboro in 1950 and worked as a farmer for a couple years and then began a career at the former E.D. Plummer and Son Blacktop Plant in Chambersburg, where he worked for 20 years. Mr. Lauver also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Always busy, he made a hobby into a business, painting on the side. He enjoyed camping and bowling. He bowled in the leagues on Wednesday and Friday nights at Nellie Fox Bowling Alley.
Surviving is his son, Robert O. Lauver, Jr. (wife Bobbie) of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Tammy Schuchman (husband Greg) of Chambersburg,PA , Chrystal Sattazahn of Chambersburg, and Dr. Rob Lauver III (wife Jessica) of Lancaster, PA; four great grandchildren, Kendyl Schuchman, Darya Sattazahn, Austin and Jullian Lauver; one brother, Clyde Lauver (wife Nancy) of Selinsgrove, PA; and a nephew, Barry Lauver of Selinsgrove, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esther Mae Reichenbach Lauver and two brothers, Charles and Fred Lauver.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Mike Baumgardner will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Honor Guard will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Grane Hospice, 4 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 201, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
