Robert Jesse “Bob” Paxton, age 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at UPMC Pinnacle-Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born August 27, 1942, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Jesse and Lucille Kerns Paxton.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of CASHS, he went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy until 1963. Bob started his career working at the former Horn Motor Express as a traffic manager for 25 years and then on to the former Cressler Trucking for the next 19 years, as a dispatcher; where he retired in 2007. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church for 50 years, and then the Salem United Brethren Church for the last 14 years. Bob was a loving and compassionate man; he loved and cherished his family and his church family. Bob was a life member of the VFW Post 1599, and a member of the American Legion Post 46, the Isaac Walton League of America, the 11 Buck Hunting Club, Potter Co., PA. Bob was an avid volunteer at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, softball, taking Sunday Drives, and watching Westerns, the Ravens, and the Orioles on TV.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Nancy Byers Paxton whom he married on November 20, 1965, a daughter, Robin Rockwell (husband Rocky) of Ocean City, MD, a sister, Susan DeVos of Chambersburg, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Art Page and Pastor Ron Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. All CDC and PA Dept. of Health Guidelines will be followed. The family is requiring the use of a Mask if you will be attending. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005.
