Robert M. Purgason

Robert M. Purgason, 86, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at his home. Born October 23, 1937 in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late Numa and Vonnie Purgason.

Robert was a graduate of Cradock High School in Cradock, VA. A US Marine Corps veteran, Robert served honorably from 1956-1962. He was employed as a Police Officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia until his retirement in 1992 as Chief Investigator. Robert was a member of the Falling Spring Fly Fisherman and the Porsche Club of America. He was a very skilled photographer and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna E. “Joanie” Purgason; two nephews, James Purgason, Jr. of GA, and Patrick Purgason of FL; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Nyswaner, and Billie Jean Wishart; and two brothers-in-law, William and Theodore Giovanelli. Aside from his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and James Purgason.
